Everyday Money Saving Tips

- Save Regularly. Hopefully you already save in some way, but immediately after receiving your paycheck, put a consistent percentange of it into a savings account with a decent interest rate.
- Buy Things on Sale. Nearly all things go on sale eventually. It makes so much more sense to just purchase things when they are discounted. With all things that you intend on buying, shop around and see what your options are. Talk to the associates at your favorite clothing stores and see when their sales are.
- Save on your Car. Take extra weight out of it (unnecessary items you are lugging around in it). Don't accelerate quickly. Try not to use the AC or drive with the windows down (it creates drag). Carpool/find other modes of transportation. Combine your errands. Check sites like GasBuddy.com for lowest prices. Make sure your tire pressure is up to par. All these things will make a HUGE difference! especially with today's fuel economy.
- Buy USED. Not only is it more effiencent for the planet in general, but you can find great things for great prices! While it may take patience to find some golden items at goodwill and thrift stores, I assure you there are plenty there, and for affordable prices. From furniture and books, to clothing and jewelry, there is so much money to be saved. Online sites such as craigslist.com and the notorious ebay.com are beyond helpful to buy and sell. Lastly, and I can't stress the importance of this one enough, is buy your car used.A car depreciates so quickly when you drive it off the lot. You can find excellent used cars, and save thousands.
- Sell Your Clutter. Clean out your closet and get rid of things that are no longer of use to you. Don't expect to make bank on the small things, but do know that the small things add up, not to mention the clarity and peace of mind a cleaner living space will offer you.
- Cut up Your Credit Cards. They are quite justly termed the fruits of the devil. It is so much easier to get into debt when you're not actually handing out cash for your purchases. Use one good credit card, and nix all the others. Do not spend more than you have. It's really as simple as that.
- Make a Budget. Know where your money is going and how much you need to and are able to allocate to certain expenses. Really put an effort to make sure it covers all the money you are spending.
- Buy in Bulk & Eat Out Less. If you live alone, try going shopping with a friend and splitting things in bulk if it's not convenient for you to purchase things in large quantities on your own. Eating out also really adds up, so try buying more groceries and preparing more of your food.
Good luck! Really, the key to saving money is to actually save it, and put it away.
